The Barriers Within | Documentary film | 69 min | Atelier Limo 2009
From the Baltic to the Adreatic Sea, the film.
They aren't neighbours. The nearest live at 100 kms away from eachothers, the furthest, at more than 1000 kms. Olaf, Zbigniew, Vaclav, Vanda, Sandor, Rosa and Marinka have all got different nationalities and mixed experiences : a policeman, a shopkeeper, a hunter, a teacher, a former serviceman, a retired, a travel agency manager. Sometimes funny, solemn or thoughtful, these people describe their own story in their own words. They seem to have nothing in common, and yet they do : The Barriers Within.
The Barriers Within, that is a 3000 km long line in the heart of Europe extending from the Baltic Sea to the Adreatic Sea, separating the EU -15 from the EU – 25. That is also the ones which live on in people's memory. This memory which still remains despite the closing of the border controls on the 21st December 2007, and the dismantling of the posts and barriers.
