Architects, producers and fieldwork researchers, we take an interest in issues dealing with interactions between space, memory and identity. From the gathering of information to the organization of the project on the premises with partners we try to develop long term projects and try to highlight places along routes we initially determine. Thus, we developp a kind of „research according to the territory“ with a major fieldwork using various means and support. Established in Berlin, we have worked on the frontier themes and finalised these past few years :
* An exhibition presented at the „Institution of Architecture and Town of Lille“ from March 31st / Mai 23rd 2009 (as part of Lille 3000) and at Bade-Baden in October 2009.
* An interactive database, 238 border places from the Baltic to the Adriatic Seas including all the custom posts listed in the form of sheets, with texts, photos, sounds and videos.
* A Documentary film „The Barriers Within“ subtitled in 9 languages, directed with the support of B. Keifenheim, an anthropologist and documentary film-maker.
* „Border Speaking“, a touring project in the heart of Europe: projection + debate on the film in 40 border places from 8 different countries along the former Schengen frontier from July 20th until October 20th 2009 with over 50 local partners (schools, organizations, museums, counsils, etc)
* Presentations of the film in Berlin at the „Haus der Kulturen der Welt" (www.hkw.de) and at the Museum of German History (www.dhm.de), in four cities along the polish-russian border, as well as in France and in Luxembourg – more than 2500 viewers since July 2009.
* A meeting with the historian and essayist Karl Schlögel (European prize for literature in Leipzig 2009) during the projection/debate at the „Haus der Kulturen der Welt“ on November 18th 2009.
We are now working on the project „Kiertotie / Umbersoit“ (The detour), a land itinerary documentation linking Turku and Tallinn, both European Capitals of Culture 2011.
